The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting an increase Week-on-Week of 5.3% and a -4.1% Year-on-Year decrease. The weekend showed a decrease of -4.5% Year-on-Year. The Year-to-Date trend reports -2.7% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year, -2.4%.
The only region to realise a Year-on-Year increase was the South East region, 7.7%. All other regions realised a Year-on-Year decrease. The West Midlands realised the highest Year-on-Year decrease, -16.8%, followed by Northern Ireland, -11.2%. The region to realise the lowest decrease on the year was Scotland, -0.7%, followed by the North East, -1.8%.
Most regions realised a week-on-week increase with the South West and Wales region realising the highest increase, 22.8%, followed by the Eastern region, 17.6%. The North East realised the lowest increase on the week, 1.3%m followed by the Yorkshire-Humber region, 1.3%, followed by the North West, 2.0%. The East Midlands realised the lowest decrease on the week, -2.9% with Northern Ireland suffering the highest decrease, -13.2%. The only other region to realise a week-on-week decrease was the West Midlands, -4.6%.
Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported a decrease of -3.4% in Year-on-Year footfall and a decrease of -0.2% on the week. The weekend showed a -7.5% Year-on-Year change.
