The FootFall UK Retail Index
The FootFall National Retail Index is reporting both an improvement of +2.3% Week-on-Week and +3.3% Year-on-Year. The Year-on-Year uplift is perhaps due to the fact that we didn’t see a return of widespread snow across the country, which occurred the same week last year on Friday and Saturday. The weekend overall reported a +13.3% improvement thanks to a lack of extreme weather.
The year to date trend has improved and is reporting at -0.1% this week. This continues to report better YTD performance compared to last year where it was reporting at -4.6% for the same week.
The FootFall Regional Index reports that eight out of 11 regions are showing an improvement in year-on-year retail traffic, with Yorkshire-Humber reporting the highest growth of +10.2%. Eight regions are showing week-on-week improvements with Eastern reporting the highest at +9.1% growth.
Within Retail Parks, the FootFall Index is reporting a year-on-year improvement of +6.2%. The weekend overall reported a 16.1% uplift year-on-year due to the aforementioned snow which impacted last year. The week-on-week statistics are also reporting a marginal improvement of +0.2%.
