The FootFall UK Retail Index
The FootFall UK National Retail Index is reporting an improvement of +1.0% week-on-week. Retailers were reporting a sales boost this week due to the milder weather across the UK. However, Year-on-Year a marginal -0.6% decline was reported. The weekend overall reported a -0.5% decline, with consumers making the most of the warm weather experienced across the country.
The year to date trend has been maintained at -0.2% this week. This continues to report better YTD performance compared to last year where it was reporting at -4.3% for the same week.
The FootFall Regional Index reports that 8 out of 11 regions are showing a decline in year-on-year retail traffic, with South West & Wales reporting the highest growth of +4.9%. Three regions are showing week-on-week improvements with South West & Wales reporting the highest at +4.3% growth.
Within Retail Parks, the FootFall Index is reporting a year-on-year improvement of +3.9%. The weekend overall reported a +4.7% uplift year-on-year, no doubt due to the warm weather inspiring consumers to have their first BBQ of the season. The week-on-week statistics are reporting a decline of -2.4%.
