Change for week 19 (8th May 2017 – 14th May 2017): -1.8%
Change for week 19 Year-on-Year: +1.3%

Commentary

The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting a decrease Week-on-Week of -0.8% and a decrease of -3.4% Year-on-Year.  The weekend showed a decrease of -2.8% Year-on-Year, whilst the Year-to-Date trend reports -2.5% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year, at -2.2%.

Only 2 regions saw a Year-on-Year increase, Northern Ireland, with an increase of +1.7%, and the Yorkshire Humber region, of +0.7%. All other regions suffered a Year-on-Year decrease, with the Eastern Region realising the highest decrease of -12.8%. The region to see the lowest decrease on the Year was the north East Region, with a slight dip of -0.4%.

4 regions saw a Week-on-Week increase, with Scotland realising the highest increase of +13.3%, followed by Northern Ireland, with an impressive increase of +12.9%. The West Midlands saw the lowest increase of +0.4%. The Eastern region suffered the highest decrease on the week of -8.1%, which was followed by the East Midlands, with a decrease of -7.3%. The South West and Wales region suffered the lowest decrease of -0.8%.

Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported an increase of 1.3% in Year-on-Year footfall and a decrease of -1.8% on the week. The weekend showed a 0.2% Year-on-Year change.
