Change for week 5 (30th January 2017 – 5th February 2017): +4.3%
Change for week 5 Year-on-Year: +0.8%

Commentary

The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting an increase Week-on-Week of +3.0% and a decrease of -2.4% Year-on-Year.  The weekend showed a decrease of -0.3% Year-on-Year, while the Year-to-Date trend reports -2.6% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year, at -1.9%.

Yorkshire Humber was the only region to report a Year-on-Year increase of +4.2%. The South West & Wales region suffered the highest Year-on-Year decrease of -4.7%, followed by the East Midlands Region, -4.0%. The region to see the lowest decrease was Northern Ireland, with a decrease of -0.1%.

Most regions saw a Week-on-Week increase with the Eastern region seeing the highest increase of +20.5%, followed by Northern Ireland, with +14.7%. South West and Wales reported the lowest increase of +0.4%, while the South East region realised the highest Week-on-Week decrease of -1.3%, followed by West Midlands, -1.2%.

Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported an increase of +0.8% in Year-on-Year footfall and an increase of +4.3% on the week. The weekend showed a 0.4% Year-on-Year change.
