Change for week 40 (2nd October 2017 – 8th October 2017): -3.2%

Commentary
The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting a decrease Week-on-Week of -0.9% and a -2.9% Year-on-Year decrease. The weekend showed a decrease of -3.2% Year-on-Year. The Year-to-Date trend reports -2.6% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year, -2.2%.

All regions realised a Year-on-Year decrease with the East Midlands realising the highest decrease, -7.2%, followed by Northern Ireland, -6.4%. The West Midlands region realised the lowest decrease on the year, -0.7%, followed by Scotland, -1.4%.

Just over half of the regions realised a week-on-week decrease with the East Midlands realising the highest decrease, -6.2%, followed by the South West & Wales, -5.9%. The region to realise the lowest decrease on the week was the Eastern region, -0.2%. The West Midlands realised the highest increase on the week, 1.5%, followed by the South East region, 1.4%, whilst the Yorkshire Humber region realised the lowest increase, 0.1%.

Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported a decrease of -3.2% in Year-on-Year footfall and an increase of 2.2% on the week. The weekend showed a -7.4% Year-on-Year change.
