Change for week 22 (29th May 2017 – 4th June 2017): +1.7%
Change for week 22 Year-on-Year: +0.9%

Commentary
The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting an increase Week-on-Week of +5.6% and a decrease of -2.4% Year-on-Year.  The weekend showed a decrease of -1.6% Year-on-Year. The Year-to-Date trend reports -2.6% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year at-2.3%.

All regions realised a Year-on-Year decrease, with the Eastern region suffering the highest decrease of -10.3%, followed by the East Midlands with-6.4%. The region with the lowest decrease was the South East region at-0.6%. The region to realise the highest Year-on-Year increase was the Northern Ireland region, at +2.7%, followed by the North East region at +1.8%. The Yorkshire Humber region saw the lowest increase of +1.0% on the year.

Nearly all of the regions realised a week-on-week increase. The Eastern region saw the highest increase of +33.6%, followed by the East Midlands, +25.9%. London, +1.1%, realised the lowest week-on-week increase and the West Midlands realised a 0% change. The only regions to suffer a decrease on the week were Northern Ireland, -4.8% and The North West region, -5.4%.

Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported a decrease of 0.9% in Year-on-Year footfall and an increase of +1.7% on the week. The weekend showed a +2.0% Year-on-Year change.
