Change for week 33 (14th August 2017 – 20th August 2017): -6.0%

Commentary
The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting decrease Week-on-Week of -0.5% and a decrease of -2.2% Year-on-Year.  The weekend showed a decrease of -6.2 % Year-on-Year. The Year-to-Date trend reports -2.6% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year, -2.3%.

The only two regions to realise a Year-on-Year increase were Scotland, 4.7%, and Northern Ireland, 0.7%.  The region to suffer the highest decrease was the Eastern region, -5.3%, followed by the East Midlands, -4.1%. The South West & Wales region realised the lowest decrease, -1.12% and the West Midlands realised 0% change on the year.

The Yorkshire- Humber region realised the highest week-on-week increase of 17.5%, followed by the East Midlands, 9.1%. The region to realise the lowest week-on-week increase was London, 1.5%. South West & Wales region realised the highest decrease, -4.5%, followed by Northern Ireland, -4.3%. North east region realised the lowest decrease, -1.9%.

Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported an increase of 0.2% in Year-on-Year footfall and a decrease of -6.0% on the week. The weekend showed a -5.2% Year-on-Year change.
