ShopperTrak commentary for w/c 10th April

Change for week 15 Year-on-Year: +1.8%

ShopperTrak Retail Index – Retail Park Weekly:
Change for week 15 (10th April 2017 – 16th April 2017):  -1.3%
Change for week 15 Year-on-Year: +4.8%

Commentary

The ShopperTrak National Retail Index is reporting a decrease Week-on-Week of -5.2% and an increase of 1.8% Year-on-Year.  The weekend showed a decrease of -11.8% Year-on-Year, whilst the Year-to-Date trend reports -2.6% compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the figure recorded is worse than last year, at -2.1%.

Four regions realised a Year-on-Year decrease with the West Midlands suffering the highest decrease of -10%, followed by the Eastern region, with a dip of -4.8%. The South East region saw the lowest decrease on the year of -1.5%. Northern Ireland saw a huge Year-on-Year increase of +21.8%, which was followed by the Yorkshire Humber, with an increase of +14.7%. The North West region realised the lowest increase of +1.9%.

Most regions suffered a Week-on-Week decrease with London seeing the highest decrease of -6.7%, whilst the North West realised the lowest decrease of -0.8%. The only regions to see an increase on the week were Yorkshire Humber, of +16.8%, East Midlands, +8.4% and Northern Ireland, with an increase of +7.4%.

Within Retail Parks, the ShopperTrak Index reported an increase of +4.8% in Year-on-Year footfall and a decrease of -1.3% on the week. The weekend showed a -10.4 %% Year-on-Year change.
